ADOH Building

The Arizona Department of Housing was established in 2002 to provide housing and community revitalization to benefit the people of Arizona. The agency provides funding to aid in building stronger communities, with most funding geared toward lower income households and neighborhoods. With the exception of mortgage foreclosure avoidance assistance, first-time homebuyer assistance, and the Section 8 Program in Yavapai County – in which the agency offers assistance directly to the public, the majority of the resources of the agency are passed through in the form of loans, grants, tax credits, mortgage or bond financing, and other subsidies, to its Housing Partners, which are local and tribal governments, public housing authorities, for-profit and nonprofit housing developers, and other organizations engaged in providing affordable housing and other community-related services. With this type of mandate comes enormous responsibility in the area of contract and project management, monitoring, and regulation enforcement.

The majority of the agency’s programs are federally funded and the agency receives no State General Fund support. The agency is also home to the Arizona Housing Finance Authority and the Arizona Home Foreclosure Prevention Funding Corporation.

ADOH Announces NOFA for CDBG SSP

The Arizona Department of Housing (the Department) is pleased to announce a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for funding through the Community Development and Revitalization (CDBG).  For FY2015, the Department expects to allocate approximately $1,306,620 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program funds to State Special Projects (SSP).  The FY2015 SSP funds will be distributed in one competitive funding round and the application submission deadline is Friday, April 15, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. See Information Bulletin 21-15 on the Publication Archives page.

ADOH Announces NOFA for OOHR Rehabilitation

The Arizona Department of Housing (the Department) is pleased to announce a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for funding through the State Housing Fund (SHF), HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME).  This NOFA is for housing rehabilitation programs for owner occupied single family dwellings. For Federal FY2015 the Department expects to allocate approximately $2,000,000.00 in SHF.  The SHF will be allocated through one competitive funding round and the application submission deadline is February 18, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. See Information Bulletin 19-15 on the Publications page.

Section 811 Survey Results Released

The Arizona Department of Housing received a Section 811 grant award from HUD to provide rental assistance subsidies for residents of LIHTC developments.  ADOH is providing the results of a recent survey conducted of over 1,200 persons with developmental disabilities concerning their housing needs and preferences in IB 18-15.

2015-2019 Consolidated Plan released

ADOH has posted the final 2015-2019 Consolidated Plan to its website on the Publications page under Documents & Links. This document is final pending HUD approval.

As a requirement to receive Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding, HUD Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity Division requires entitlement jurisdictions to Affirmatively Further Fair Housing in order to carry out the full intent of federal fair housing legislation.

ADOH to receive $2.95 million through HUD Section 811 PRA Program...

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced on March 3, 2015, that Arizona has been chosen as one of 25 states to receive a Section 811 Project Rental Assistance (PRA) grant through a recent competitive application process conducted by HUD. The Arizona Department of Housing (ADOH) partnered with the Arizona Department of Economic Security (ADES), Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS), and the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) to apply for the funds.
