Project Based Rental Assistance (Multifamily)
The Arizona Public Housing Authority promotes affordable housing opportunities through Project Based Contract Administration of 115 federally subsidized properties that involves over 8,000 units throughout the state of Arizona. The properties provide rental assistance to their residents through the Section 8 Program of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The populations served are households that are extremely-low income and up to very-low (50% of the area median) income. HUD establishes and publishes the income parameters annually. The assistance is linked to the property by a Housing Assistance Payments Contract between HUD and the owner of the property. A resident at a Project Based assisted property may receive assistance as long as they are eligible in accordance with HUD guidelines and abide by the terms of the lease. Applications are accepted and Waiting Lists (if applicable) are maintained at each site.
