Local communities in Arizona are faced with the increasing challenge of balancing future growth while keeping existing housing stock, infrastructure and community facilities from declining. The Arizona Department of Housing (ADOH) is dedicated to helping communities face these challenges through its Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Home Investment Partnership (HOME) program funding sources as well as the Weatherization Assistance Program.
ADOH receives approximately $9 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) entitlement funds annually from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to fund eligible programs and projects in communities located in the 13 rural counties in the state.
Community Housing Development Organizations (CHDOs)
A Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) is a specially formed non-profit corporation established pursuant to federal regulations for purposes of accessing CHDO set-aside funds for the development of affordable housing made available through the federal HOME Investment Partnership Program. The HOME Investment Partnership Program is a federal funding source administered by the Arizona Department of Housing.
