On July 1 the Office of Manufactured Housing (OMH) was consolidated into the Arizona Department of Housing. Previously housed within the Arizona Department of Fire, Building & Life Safety, the Manufactured Housing Division is charged with regulating the manufactured housing industry in the state. This fall ADOH was pleased to receive a nod of approval on the move from the President of the Manufactured Housing Industry of Arizona, a state trade association that represents the Factory Built Housing Industry in Arizona.

The Manufactured Housing Industry of Arizona is pleased to be part of the Department of Housing. The manufactured housing industry is made up of manufacturers (Cavco Homes, Champion Homes and Clayton Homes), retailers, installers, transporters, lenders, community owners, developers, and many specialty suppliers. The Association’s objectives are to provide a quality home buying experience for our customers at a reasonable price.

When newly elected Governor Ducey announced his plan to eliminate and consolidate state agencies, we contacted the Governor’s office to both support our state agency and to express our preference in the event we were merged with another agency. Having served on the Arizona Housing Commission under the leadership of Director Trailor, I learned of his passion for quality housing opportunities for those in Arizona in need of affordable housing. With his advocacy and ability to persuade many in government of the needs for Arizona residents, we requested to be merged into the Department of Housing.

Since the merger took place on July 1, 2016, Director Trailor has taken as active role in getting to know the Manufactured Home Industry of Arizona by attending many of our meetings and also including us in the Department of Housing activities.

While the great recession took a toll on our industry, we have been on an upward trend for the past 4 years.
