Director Trailor Awarded the Five Star Leader Award from the Coalition to End Homelessness

Director Michael Trailor was honored to be awarded the Five Star Leader Award from the Coalition to End Homelessness in September and was recognized for having demonstrated an unprecedented commitment to ending homelessness among veterans by heeding the call to create a veteran preference set aside in the State’s Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Program’s Qualified Allocation Plan as proposed in the AZDVS Action Plan to End Homelessness Among Veterans published in 2010. Under Director Trailor’s leadership, the Arizona Department of Housing has maintained this set‑aside which has played a significant role in creating quality housing opportunities for chronically homeless veterans. As a result of his leadership, over 400 housing units have been created across the state targeting chronic and vulnerable veterans. Director Trailor has been a strong quiet force in ending homelessness among veterans and embodies the selfless service required to effectively address major social issues. He continues his leadership toward ending all chronic homelessness by leading Zero 2016.

Since 2010 this award has been presented to the person or organization that demonstrated exemplary service and leadership as a champion of Veterans experiencing homelessness.
