Federal Update

On Monday, December 21, Congress approved Omnibus Appropriations and COVID-19 relief legislation. The legislation included $25 billion for emergency rental assistance programs, a minimum 4 percent rate for Low Income Housing Tax Credit developments, additional Housing Credit authority for states dealing with recent disasters, and additional time to spend federal dollars for housing programs funded by the last round of Coronavirus Relief Fund legislation. Of the $25 billion in federal rental assistance, Arizona will receive approximately $400 million. Localities with populations over 200,000 can apply for their own portion of the $400 million. The State is set to receive at least 55 percent of the $400 million. All funding must be obligated by Dec. 31, 2021, with an extension to March 30, 2022, at the discretion of the U.S. Department of Treasury. 

State Update

The Fifty-Fifth Legislature- First Regular Session convened on Monday, January 11, 2021 at noon. Governor Doug Ducey delivered his State of the State speech from his office on the same day.
